Regular wig care doesn’t just preserve its quality—it also extends its lifespan! Basic upkeep boils down to two key steps: brushing and washing. Below’s how to do both right, plus answers to common questions.
Use a wig-specific brush for gentle combing. If tangles are severe:
- Let a professional stylist trim them, or
- Spray wig detangler first, then comb slowly.
- Frequent users: Keep your wig on a wig stand to prevent tangling and shape loss.
- Occasional users: After washing and air-drying, store it in a special wig bag or sealed bag—this keeps dirt and moisture away.
Washing methods vary slightly for synthetic, blended, and human hair wigs. Below is a step-by-step for synthetic wigs (the most common type)—check our video tutorial for more details!
- Brush the wig to remove dust and tangles.
- Fasten all wig clips/buckles.
- Mix 15ml of wig shampoo into 1.5–2 liters of water (lather well).
- Submerge the wig and press gently to clean (no rubbing!).
- Rinse thoroughly. Repeat if the wig is very dirty.
- Pat the wig with a dry towel to absorb water (don’t wring!).
- Air-dry completely—never use a hair dryer or direct sunlight (this damages fibers).
- Once fully dry, brush with a wig brush (follow the hair flow, start from the ends). Brushing when wet ruins curls/shape!
It depends on how often you wear it:
- Wear daily? Wash every 7–10 days.
- Smell sweat or odors? Wash right away with wig shampoo.
- Long-term users: Get your wig “checked” regularly by the original seller (we offer this service at Adorlas!).
Yes! Always use wig-specific products to keep it in top shape:
- Wig brush, wig stand
- Wig shampoo, conditioner, detangler
